Bussana is a small village on the Ligurian coast which has been destroyed by an earthquake at the end of XIX century and squatted by artists from the 60s until now. The artists living in the village restored it mainly with their hands and relatively poor means leaving, in their extemporary architectural interventions, the trace of the earthquake like a frozen wound. In a metaphorical way the inhabitants speak of Bussana as an “open wound” linking architectural and social situations. The main economic support is tourism. The inhabitants are artists/artisans who produce what they sell.

In this place I wandered with my recorder through the short echoes of small streets trying to follow invisible sounds or standing still at a corner waiting for the sounds to come. In this way I recorded a lot of people who were commenting or describing the site.
